Ocean Decade Survey: Early Career Ocean Professionals
The United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development 2021-2030 is a critical opportunity to galvanize transformative actions for the ocean we need for the future we want. This survey, conducted under the auspices of the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO (IOC), will enable early career ocean professionals to contribute their views to the Decade preparation process.
Anyone who identifies as an early career ocean professional should complete this survey! We invite views from all communities, including ocean science and technology, business and industry, civil society, policy and sustainable development.
You can access the survey here.
Participants in this survey you will contribute to:
- Identifying early career ocean professionals interested in contributing to the Decade;
- Setting priority actions for the Decade; and
- Identifying key capacity gaps and challenges for ECOP engagement throughout the Decade.
The outcome of this survey will contribute to the Decade preparation process in 2020. The survey should take 15-20 minutes to complete. The survey will be open from 18 December 2019 to 7 February 2020.
Alfredo Giron-Nava and Erin Satterthwaite, PEGASuS postdocs with Future Earth and NCEAS , were very involved in the development of the survey. They are now part of the Informal Working Group established by the IOC that will follow up on analyzing the results and presenting recommendations to be included in the Science Action Plan of the Decade.
