Across the world, momentum is growing in the fields of sustainability science, conservation, and climate action – and for scientists, practitioners, and policy-makers to work in novel and transdisciplinary ways to research, create, and implement sustainability solutions. Future Earth, its Global Research Projects, Knowledge-Action Networks, and partners, work to accelerate this momentum and enable those working in these realms to connect, collaborate, and succeed. Ocean Sciences Meeting 2020

The Ocean Sciences Meeting (OSM) is the flagship conference for the ocean sciences and the larger ocean-connected community. As we approach the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development, beginning in 2021, it is increasingly important to gather as a scientific community to raise awareness of the truly global dimension of the ocean, address environmental challenges, and set forth on a path towards a resilient planet.

The Ocean Sciences Meeting 2020 is co-sponsored by AGU, the Association for the Sciences of Limnology and Oceanography (ASLO), and The Oceanography Society (TOS). Through the combined power of these three organizations, along with the broader conservation-focused community, this meeting provides attendees the opportunity to bridge disciplines, connect communities, and make lasting partnerships.

World Biodiversity Forum

First of its kind, the World Biodiversity Forum will bring together leading researchers, early career researchers, practitioners, representatives from different sectors, decision-makers and societal actors to have a conversation on the kind of future we want (and/or do not want) for biodiversity.

The Forum will provide a platform for exchange, covering a wide range of perspectives, and capturing a diversity of visions. With this, it aims to redefine and set the agenda for biodiversity as a focal point over the next 10 years in current themes and topics across sectors.

In this, the Forum sup­ports the “New Deal for Nature” to be forged by the Convention on Biological Diversity at the end of 2020. It is aligned with Sustainable Development Goals and achievement of which will require the involvement of all sectors/societal actors, societal consensus and collective search for solutions to conserve biodiversity.

Sustainability Research and Innovation 2020

SRI2020 will be a unique gathering to connect those at the forefront of sustainability science, innovation, funding, communication and implementation across sectors and disciplines.

SRI2020 is the inaugural SRI Congress, which will take place on June 14-17 2020 in Brisbane, Australia. SRI2020 is hosted by an Australian consortium led by Future Earth Australia and the Office of the Queensland Chief Scientist, comprising the CSIRO, University of Queensland, Queensland University of Technology, University of the Sunshine Coast, James Cook University and Griffith University. Enabled by the consortium’s broad and deep networks across Australia and the Oceanic region, SRI2020 will be the gateway connecting sustainability research and innovation across the Global South and Global North.

EcoSummit 2020

This conference series was founded in 1996 in Copenhagen, as a forum for scientists, practitioners, and policy-makers working across disciplines to solve the integrated environmental, social, and economic problems facing the world today. Since 1996, EcoSummits have occurred around the world (Canada, China, USA and Europe), with EcoSummit 2016 hosting 1400 participants from 87 countries in Montpellier, France.

EcoSummit 2020 will have a focus on coastal and marine ecosystems including adjacent terrestrial ecosystems and all habitats that are integrated within those ecosystems, including river networks, wetlands and catchments. We expect all aspects of environmental modeling, engineering, science, and policy to be covered under the focus of climate adaptation and the need for developing socio-economic and environmental resilience and sustainable prosperity around the world. Further focus will be placed on fragile systems that are more likely to suffer the consequences of climate change and anthropogenic pressure such as islands, coastal communities and arid landscapes.
