For the second time in just a few weeks, Anthropocene Magazine has been recognized for its outstanding work. The Climate Parables, a speculative fiction series, won an award from the Institute for Nonprofit News in the “INNovator Category” as part of its 2023 Nonprofit News Awards, or INNYs. The INNYs honor excellence in journalism, leadership, and community service across the field of nonprofit news. In 2023, INN received 440 entries from 160 member news organizations and gave out 28 awards across 11 categories.

The Climate Parables brings readers into the future we want to live in with stories by some of the world’s most talented climate-fiction writers, and asks them to consider, “what could possibly go right?” The series had its global debut live on stage in May in San Francisco for two sold-out nights, and is slated for more performances: At the AGU conference in December 2023 in San Francisco, at the Planet Forward conference in April 2024 in Washington D.C., and beyond. Wayt Gibbs is Editorial Director of the Climate Parables, which is made possible by funding from the V. Kann Rasmussen Foundation. Kathy Kohm is Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Anthropocene Magazine.

Earlier this month, Anthropocene Magazine was named as a finalist for an Eddie & Ozzie Award for its Fixing Carbon newsletter.
