- Hi Rhododendrites, good idea. ;–) I was aware that normally such “cards” are either distributed via copy and paste or by inserting a template with
{{subst:...}}– the result is the same. I also thought about the potential abuse of a template. But I am so used to avoid redundancy in anything related to coding that I cound not stand the idea to duplicate the same text so many times, therefore I opted for using a template. - Actually, it is not the architecture that drew my uneducated attention. It was the trees framing the buildings. - Thanks, Suntooooth. I like the Flaco picture, too (reminds me of Totoro), but though it's cute I suspect it will not pass QIC. QIC reviewers don't take kindly to chromatic aberration (the blue fringes along the edges of trees in the background) and noise reduction removed some detail on Flaco himself. A request[edit]
Hi Rhododendrites, hope you're well! If you have a few minutes at some point - and no rush at all, can totally appreciate if you have much better things to be doing - could you maybe have a look at this picture of yours and see if you can correct the tiny stitching error I have noted on the image page? I would like to nominate it for FP - it's a superb shot, I know the presentation is straightforward but it's a great iconic motif that IMO deserves an FP - but obviously will not do with this obvious flaw. - Hi Cmao20, and thanks. I haven't had much time for editing recently, but am going through a batch of photos now and should get to this one shortly! BTW don't know how familiar you are with it, but after riding it I found the Wonder Wheel to be surprisingly unnerving for a Ferris wheel. Cars are arranged in a circle, yes, but also on their own short tracks so that at various points in the ride you suddenly slide down the track like a mini-roller coaster. :) — Rhododendrites talk | 21:03, 26 March 2024 (UTC)

- Thank you so much! And absolutely fine, I didn't expect a reply in any particular timescale! Will nominate this for FP when I have a slot next. Just thought it was a really cool pic, I haven't been to Coney Island sadly (have only been to NYC once in my life) but obviously have seen this place in lots of films and find the history of it fascinating. I think I knew that it wasn't a conventional ferris wheel but this is really interesting to hear - looks like there are very few of this 'sliding wheel' construction in the world and the only one of a similar size, at Disneyland California, is basically copied from the design of this one. Commons photographers: next virtual meeting on April 13, 2024[edit]
