Future Earth at COP27: Highlighting Climate Science in Negotiations to Inspire Action
The 27th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP27) to the UNFCCC will happen in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt from 6 – 18 November 2022.
As an official observer of the organization, Future Earth has a significant onsite and virtual presence throughout the conference. Researchers from our vast network will be participating in and holding events and releasing key reports and research for supporting negotiations.

- The event focuses on scopes for near-future prediction of GHG levels and climate change impact assessments using Earth System Models. What: 10 New Insights in Climate Science 2022 Press Conference
- The 10 New Insights in Climate Science series is a joint initiative of Future Earth, the Earth League, and the World Climate Research Programme. The 10 New Insights in Climate Science 2022 report was prepared by a consortium of leading researchers from around the world. The annual series synthesizes the latest climate change related research for the international science-policy community. Since 2017, installments have been launched annually at the Climate COP with the UNFCCC Executive Secretary.

- The WASP Science-for-Adaptation Policy Brief on the Global Goal on Adaptation is the sixth issue in the series published by seven UN agencies that form the World Adaptation Science Programme (WASP): UNEP, WMO, UNFCCC, IPCC, GEF, GCF and UNU. This issue discusses the Global Goal on Adaptation and its adequacy of adaptive response commensurate with the temperature goal of the Paris Agreement and a collective effort is required to operationalize the Global Goal on Adaptation, noting that there are no agreed frameworks, methods, indicators, or metrics to assess progress towards the Global Goal on Adaptation (GGA).
